Data project
Survey on Habits and Cultural Practices, 2010-2011
Encuesta de Hábitos y Prácticas Culturales en España 2010 - 2011
Summary
Its purpose is, firstly, to evaluate the performance of the main indicators related to cultural habits and practices and, secondly, to deepen other relevant aspects in the cultural field, especially with respect to consumption of cultural products. It is defined as a tool to provide some statistical information to help the governmental Plan for the Abatement and Removal of Infringing Activities on Intellectual Property. Indicators are obtained to support the comparisons over time coming from the previous project (2006-2007), along with the Eurostat Working Group for Cultural Statistics.

Coverage
Coverage Years of collection, reference years, and sample sizes
Wave 1: Data was collected from 2002 to 2003. The sample size included 12,108 individuals.
Wave 2: Data was collected from 2006 to 2007. The sample size included 16,408 individuals.
Wave 3: Data was collected from 2010 to 2011. The sample size included 16,408 individuals.
As the survey is composed by four sub-samples (March-May, June-August, September-November and December-February), individual data were collected in the month following each quarter. When the reference date for data collected is one year, this refers to the period between March 2010 and February 2011, to follow the seasonal cultural behaviours.
First year of collection
2002-03
Stratification if applicable

Linkage
Standardisation
Survey is aligned with the Eurostat Working Group for Cultural Statistics, after the 2006-7 survey.
Possibility of linkage among databases
No
Data quality
Entry errors if applicable
Data consistency was assured by means of debugging individual questionnaires, invalid and inconsistent values detection, analysis of aggregate and classification variables, comparisons over time and comparisons with other statistical sources. Data files were treated to estimate the missing response and to define weighted factors.
Breaks
The last two surveys (2006-7, 2010-11) have stable contents and results, while the first survey is slightly different in terms of sample size and some indicators. In spite of this, a general overview over time is possible.
Consistency of terminology or coding used during collection
High consistency in concepts and definitions, variables and indicators, and data results.
