“Bel-Ageing”: a project financed by BELSPO (BE)

BELSPO, a More Years Better Lives member is financing “BEL-Ageing” project.

According to the OECD (2011), employment rates of older and low-skilled workers in Belgium are among the lowest in the OECD countries. The researchers of the Bel-Ageing project consider that the reforms likely to improve the sustainability of pension systems are known. The issue is about finding the optimal balance between efficiency, fairness and political feasibility of the reforms. The main objective of this project is to provide various tools to assess quantitatively the sustainability of the Belgian pension system and to test actual and potential pension and labour market reforms. The project exists of four Belgian partners (Université de Liège, Centre for European Policy Studies, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Universiteit Gent) and runs from December 2013 until February 2018.
